Pearls, Pearls, Pearls Blog Hop

Michelle Buettner put out a request for people interested in doing a blog hop of items made with pearls.I was interested and put my name in the pot.

My design is made from pearls that I purchased from Michael's Bead Gallery line of beads.  Choosing the pearls I think was the easy part.  I had a choice of two sizes and made that decision fairly quickly.

The next step was to choose the spacers.  I picked out four to start with and whittled that down and then added additional ones, finally choosing one.

Then it was on to choose a pendant if I decided to go that route.  I had two in mind, a Tree of Life metal and shell pendant and a brown metal flower with gold jewels.

Earrings were the next step.  What color to use?  Was I going to have extra beads?

Here is what I finished with.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I like the finished product. Those chunky pearls appeal to me, as does the subtle nature of the brown focal. Well done! It seems like quite a few people are thinking ahead to fall already. No! I can't let summer go just yet.

  2. Very pretty necklace and earrings. Either pendant would have done well, but I like the final design the brown flower really goes well with the different colors of pearls you chose.

  3. What a pretty, soft color palette for your pearl creation, Carolyn! Both pendants you chose work well with these pearls. Thanks for sharing you thought process as well. Always interesting to know.

  4. Carolyn, I really like the choices you ended up making - wow! This necklace just screams yummy. I love the 'fall' looking colors and your pearls are gorgeous - love the big, ringed ones - so pretty - soft and creamy looking. Thank you so much for joining in on the blog hop, I hope you had a truly fun time!!

  7. Love the "Big Brown Flower" although the other focal would have worked, too. The "Flower" is so fun and different. The Pearls go really well with it. Perfect for fall with all the soft colors! Oh...like the little pearl earring, too.

  9. Hi Carolyn. I think you chose well for the fall season. The first choice is very pretty too but is more summery. The pendant does look "yummy" as Shel said. It has a look of chocolate! Those ringed pearls are really neat. Michaels has definitely expanded and improved on their bead choices!

  12. Carolyn-- What pretty color selection for your pearls! The first piece is my very favorite. I like the light color of the pendant and also how you used larger pearls on one side and smaller ones on the other. That's the type of thing I never think to do. I have to constantly fight the urge to be symmetrical!

  13. I agree with Shel, I really love the colors in your second piece! But I really like how the tree of life stands out in the first one. Hope to see it completed! Great Job. Thanks for sharing

  14. I'm late to the hopping part but I really like the pearls you used with the flower focal. I would have never guessed they were from Michael's. I'll have to remember to look there. I also like the tassel on the flower. Was that your addition? I've been meaning to try to make tassels for the longest time - but something else always comes up. Just a thought - but I could also see the flower necklace looking great if you grouped the pearls together by color - i.e. a few whites, a few browns then a few peach. It might feel less predictable and more complex (or it might just feel like a mess - but it's worth trying - lol!)
