January Challenge

This is going to be another post without pictures.  I wasn't able to download the picture I wanted even after three tries of several hours each.  I guess I am going to have to try blogging from my email via the cellphone as soon as I figure that out.  I will have more time later in the week.

I managed to finish my January challenge for Operation Tackle That Bead Stash.  The challenge was to only use white and black beads only.  Findings did not count for color.  If you used/made squares in your piece you got an extra chance at the drawing for free beads.  I'll put a link to my necklace when it is pictured on the blog.

Free Tutorial Friday

Another blog that I read suggested looking at the following tutorial if you are interested in adding fabric to your jewelry.  Not sure that I am going to be adding any fabric to my jewelry but found the tutorial interesting and now have some ideas on how to use fabric.  Loved her necklaces.

Sunset at the Beach

Sunset at theBeach

Finally got a picture downloaded.  Not sure what I did but am glad to have one to talk about.  This set was one that I did for a challenge on the Operation Tackle That Bead Stash! facebook page.  Wasn't able to get a picture done in time to send it in.

The pendant and Mother-of-Pearl beads are from Michael's, orange and white stripe beads are from a mix that I got at JoAnn's, and the orange beads and silver spacers are from Shipwreck Beads.  It has an adjustable three ring toggle clasp.  Earrings are just simple drop earrings.

What do you think?  Would you like to see more than one picture of each set that I make?  I usually do a full length shot like at the left, a close-up of the focal, a close-up of the earrings, and a picture of the clasp.

Pictures

Does anyone know of an easy way to add pictures to my blog?  Am having trouble getting them added either by computer (have dial up and it took forever the last time I tried from my camera disk) or from my phone.  Tried the phone the last couple of nights and it was a no go both nights.  If I could just remember to do this earlier in the day when there is a little more time to play with it.

I have been trying to do it by clicking on the picture button next to the word Link but no luck (at least when I want it done quickly).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Sunday evening

Here it is Sunday evening and we are back to work again tomorrow after being off because of the snow since they sent us home on Wednesday.  Worked on my inventory and pricing and am still not caught up.  Will take me a couple of weekends if I don't do anything else (yeah, right about that).

Was hoping to add a picture here of a new necklace but am not sure why I wasn't able to add it via my cell phone.  Will have to try again tomorrow.

Snow, challenge and inventory

Today has been an at home day.  Olympia was hit with snow and then an ice storm so work was cancelled today.  Maybe for tomorrow also because as of this afternoon there was no power in the building.  The emergency line said to call back between 8:30 and 9am to see if they will be open or not.

The trees in my front yard have not fared well in this storm.  Both of them have cracked limbs with one leaning down on the street.  It is still passable but will need to be removed.  My brother said he might be able to come over tomorrow and see about getting it moved.

I added a link to a challenge that I think I will try.  The Do-Over Challenge.  Has anyone ever done that one?  If so, how did you like?

Have been working on my inventory and pricing again today.  Have probably a good 30 or more pieces that I need to inventory and price.  This year I am not going to wait until my sales start to start pricing items.

Thanks for stopping by.  Once the weather is better I will be taking pictures of the items that I am pricing now.  If it doesn't clear up soon, I think I might start showing items that I have made in the past.

Snow and challenges

Here is a picture of a snowwoman that someone did near bus stop by by home (this was taken about 5pm).  Next two picture are of what it looked like Wednesday morning at a different bus stop on my way to work.  Last picture was taken about 3pm showing the snow on the top of the car, 13"!!!!

Thursday morning and it is freezing rain, not sure if work will be open.  They said to come in by 10am but not sure that will happen because everything is slick.

Did pricing and inventory yesterday and do not think I will have to make anything this year as I have lots to sell.  But I enjoy making them.  Probably will make lots of extra earrings so that I have them available to sell separate from the sets that I make.

Almost forgot about the challenges part of the title.  Was looking at some other websites and saw that there were lots of challenges out there.  Anyone know how to find them?

Snow day

Today would have been good day to stay home if I could have.  Snowed off and on all day, sometimes hard, sometimes not at all.

It started out real light on Saturday.  Now have at least 5" on the back deck railing.  They are predicting up to 14" by tomorrow.

Have been working on inventory and pricing of sets that I have made.  How do you price your work, in sets (necklace and earrings, sometimes bracelet) or individually?  How would you like to see them priced, individually or in sets?

Sold lots of earrings last year and had several requests to just buy the earrings from the sets.  Thought about pricing them individually and then offering a discount if they bought the matching pieces.  Any ideas, comments?

Last night was bowling and I did a lot better this week compared to last week.   I made my 400 series, actually 447.

Here is a picture of a necklace and earrings set that I made last weekend.

Finally Another Post

I have missed posting the last couple of days because when I finally got home after beading with my friend and last night bowling, I haven't been in the mood to post.  I was tired and just ready to walk the dog and go to bed.

When I started the blog I thought I might not be willing to post every night but I was going to try.  Maybe once I get the hang of doing this, I will be willing to do short posts every day.

No beading last night.  Wednesday nights are bowling league nights.  I am trying to average 135 a game for three games to have a 400 series.  Last night I missed by 11 pins to get a 389.  My first and third games were average games but I did miserably on the second game getting just 101.

No beading tonight either as I need to get my inventory updated so I know what I have.

If anyone has any questions, please post a comment.  Hopefully by the weekend I will get photos of what I made earlier in the week.

New Year's Day post

Hello anyone and everyone.  My very first post and I almost missed posting.  I hope to post evey day, some days will be easier than others.

I want to use this blog as a history of the jewelry I will be making in the coming year.  I was able to complete two necklaces with earrings today.  I need to complete a bracelet for one of the sets.  I will try and get pictures taken tomorrow and hope to post them also.

I am working on another set with coordinating earrings.  I work with both silver and gold findings although I prefer to wear gold.

Hopefully tomorrow I won't be posting so late.

Thanks for reading.
